The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage ES
The Mitsubishi Mirage ES arrived in showrooms for 2017 with improved styling and interior enhancements. You’ll even find more power under its commanding hood. The very economical Mirage ES came back for 2017 with a new design and power but it maintains its unparalleled fuel economy and remains one of the least expensive cars available in the segment that completes its package with a generous warranty.
Mitsubishi has strengthened the suspension with new spring rates and shock absorbers and the front brake rotors and rear drums have increased in size and quality of pad material. The new front and rear fascias, new headlamps and fog lights, new rear spoiler, new wheels, new bumpers, and taillights invoke an edgier, sportier feel.
Standard for the base Mirage ES trim are 14-inch steel wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic headlights, LED taillights, full power accessories, a tilt-only steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and USB and auxiliary audio inputs.
The Mirage ES is designed with five-doors, it is lightweight and has solid handling with superb maneuverability and an extraordinary fuel-economy rating for a non-hybrid vehicle. The five-speed manual enhances the power from the 78-hp three-cylinder, but the fuel-saving CVT is better for stop and go traffic. The five-passenger hatchback is offered in three trim levels: ES, SE and GT. The ES replaces the DE as the base trim level, while the midrange SE and top-of-the-line GT are new offerings.
There are several options packages available on all the trims. The Park Assist package adds front and rear parking sensors; the Rockford Fosgate Premium Audio package adds a six-speaker audio system. Other options include some lustrous chrome exterior accents, additional interior lighting and utility items like cargo nets and mud flaps. If you decide to move up to the GT you'll additionally get 15-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights and heated front seats.
Standard safety features for the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage brand include four-wheel antilock brakes (front discs, rear drums), front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, traction and stability control. A rearview camera is standard on the SE and GT, while front and rear parking sensors are optional on all trim levels.
The new features continue inside with better quality interior materials, which grab your attention right away. A new steering wheel, gauge cluster, shift panel, new fabrics, new center-stack display which adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity with the available Rockford Fosgate sound system with 300 watts of power. The Mirage is the first Mitsubishi product to offer those features.
The seats are exceptionally comfortable, there’s generous headroom, up-to-date features, amazing sound, outstanding gas mileage, low cost of ownership, a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty and an amazingly low price. Mitsubishi is really paying attention to what this segment of buyers is looking for!
